APC hails Jonathan for suspending Adamawa rally

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has hailed the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for suspending its rally, which was initially slated to hold in Adamawa State today due to the present turmoil in the North.
APC in a communique issued in Lagos yesterday by its interim national publicity secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, described the development as ‘right decision at this critical time.’
It said the suspension of the rally has shown that President Goodluck Jonathan is beginning
to give listening ears to the voices of his compatriots on important burning national issues.

The APC said, “As we said in a statement we issued on April 24, it smacks of insensitivity, inhumanity and indecency for our president and other leaders to be engaged in any celebratory venture when we do not yet know the fate of the school girls who were abducted from their school and taken to an unknown destination.
“We also said the president should not repeat the same mistake he made by flying to Kano to dance at a political rally even as the smoke was yet to clear from the scene of the Nyanya motor park bombing. We are delighted that good sense has prevailed this time,’’ APC said.
The opposition party urged President Jonathan to halt every party activities until the abducted schoolgirls regain their freedom.
However, reacting to the statement, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Alhaji Abdullahi Jalo, warned the APC to stop taking credit for the party’s action.
Jalo told Punch that it is high time the APC stopped advising Jonathan and leadership of the PDP on what to do.

He said, “Our President is a caring person, who always puts the interest of Nigeria first. He is a father not only to his biological children , but to all Nigerians. His decision to suspend our rally in Yola has nothing to do with what the opposition is claiming.”
