The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State would hold its state congress today.
The state’s party publicity secretary,
Philip Anza, told newsmen in Makurdi that the state congress which was
earlier scheduled for Monday, was shifted to enable party stalwarts
consult widely.
Anza said: “The APC state congress has again been shifted from Monday to Wednesday, April 30, 2014. This change in date is to allow for wider consultations by stakeholders
on the pending
issues arising from the recently conducted local government congresses.”

Though he did not give further details, Daily Trust, however, learned that the party has been enmeshed in series of crisis since its debut in the state early last year, just as its factionalised leaders have been at logger heads with one another.
The split in the party is also believed to have been responsible for the crisis which shrouded the congresses held in some of the local government areas, last week.
Our correspondent gathered that in Ushongo and Buruku local governments as well as in the Benue South senatorial district, supporters of the Senate Minority Leader, George Akume, and that of the former ACN gubernatorial candidate in the state, Alhaji Usman Abubakar, clashed.
