Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter
of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has returned 31 officials to
steer the affairs of the party in the FCT.
In the election which held in
Gwagwalada, Alhaji Abdulmalik Usman emerged as chairman of APC in the
FCT, while Alhaji Abdullahi Kandido, from Abuja Municipal Area Council,
was elected secretary of the party. Three hundred and eighty two delegates from the six Area Councils in the FCT elected the 31 officials through consensus arrangement.
Former FCT senator, Alhaji Adamu Sidi-Ali, who was the returning officer, described the process which involved the use of “voice vote’’ as peaceful and successful.
He called on party members to work hand in hand with the newly elected party leaders in order to build the party stronger.
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected chairman of the APC in FCT, Alhaji Usman Abdulmalik, expressed gratitude to God and the party members over his victory and assured the members of a new era of exemplary party leadership.
He promised to work with his team in ensuring that APC takes over the country’s leadership during the 2015 general elections.
“We will make sure that we go down to the grassroots in all the 62 political wards in the FCT and, by God’s grace, take over the leadership of the country in 2015,’’ he said.
Former chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council, Alhaji Zakari Angulu Dobi, while commenting on the outcome of the congress, described it as successful. He urged Nigerians to believe in the party and to beware of parties with ambiguous manifestos.
