Okorocha denies imposing candidates in Imo

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has denied imposing candidates in the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Okorocha was replying to an allegation by Prince Marshal Okafor Anyawu, who resigned as chairman of the party in Imo over the weekend.
The governor through his senior special assistant on media, Mr.Sam Onwuemeode, described the allegations as spurious and worrisome.
Okorocha said Okafor Anyanwu  was never the chairman of APC
in Imo as the  congress for that purpose is yet to be done.
He said Okafor Anyanwu was appointed an interim management committee chairman of the party that had few months life span which ended with the on-going congresses adding that the former chairman had hoped to be transformed into a substantive state chairman of the party which could not be feasible with the prevailing political climate in the state.
Okorocha said that the only offence he committed against Okafor Anyanwu was that the stakeholders and other leaders of the APC in the state had met and decided that since the governor is from Orlu zone, where  Okofor Anyanwu also comes from, the chairmanship of the party should go to Owerri zone.
The governor said the  claim  by Okafor Anyanwu that he had been funding the party is questionable saying, “Why did he wait for that to be done before remembering that he was financing the party,  why didn’t he resign even before now.”
