Osun PDP flays Soyinka over comment on education policy

The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has flayed a comment credited to Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, that the state government’s same school uniform policy, which recently caused an uproar in the state, was a brilliant idea, challenging
him to recommend same policy in his home state, Ogun, where his son is a serving commissioner.
Chairman of the PDP in the state, Alhaji Gani Olaoluwa, while speaking with the Nigerian Tribune, appreciated Soyinka for blowing his cover as the brain behind all the educational policies that have drawn Osun State back since the inception of the Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s administration in the state.
“The respected literary icon, Professor Soyinka, should be applauded for admitting that all the things that have been wrong with the education system in Osun State were his brain child. But Nigerians should ask him why he has not recommended the same brilliant idea to his home state and many other states where he is a respected voice. They should ask him why it had taken the renowned Soyinka decades after winning the Nobel prize for literature to recommend the ‘brilliant idea’ that has made Osun’s education system a mess to other states.
Olaoluwa said his party was surprised that Soyinka could pander to the Aregbesola-led government by waiting until he had a function in Osogbo before commending an educational policy that “is aimed at putting the state’s money in the pocket of some few people who have been the sole source where all the uniforms must come from.”
