According to him, legislators at the Upper Chambers of the National Assembly were doing serious business and should not be undermined.
Mark handed this warning at Okene, Kogi State, yesterday, at the constituency briefing
and Empowerment Programme of Senator Nurudeen Abatemi representing Kogi Central Senatorial District in the Senate.
”I also urge Nigerians to have the interest of the nation at heart. They should embrace peace, for without peace, the nation cannot get to where it ought to be,” he said.
Mark, however, hailed Senator Abatemi for empowering the people of his district, stressing that legislation goes beyond law making. He said that, “as a representative of the people, you cannot tell Nigerians that your duty is only to make laws without empowering the people.”
Earlier in his speech, Senator Abatemi said that he had, through his empowerment programmes and debates on the floor of the Senate, kept faith with his mandate and delivered on his promises.
“I have worked diligently to live up to the promises that I made during the campaign: to build a better future for my people, uplift the poor, empower underprivileged, create jobs and wealth for my district.
