The three members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Adamawa State House of Assembly have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The legislators announced their
defection at the House plenary on Tuesday under matters of personal
explanation, saying they took the decision after due consultation with
their supporters in their respective constituencies.
The defecting members are Wafarninyi Theman of Hong Constuency, Simon Issa of Song Constiuency and Abubakar Jarengol of Mubi North.
Speaker of the House, Ahmadu Fintiri expressed delight with the development saying it has turned the House into PDP family. He added “ by this development, all the 25 members of this assembly are now PDP members”.
“I will want you to join the remaining colleagues of our and the president in his transformation agenda to move the country forward”, he added.
The Publicity Secretary of APC in Adamawa, Phineas Padio said the defection would not affect the popularity of APC in the state, saying he is confident his party will floor the PDP at polls.
Let me make it clear that the movement of those lawmakers will not affect and can never affect the APC in the state being a grassroots party”, Padio said.
