Group advocates shift of power to southern Plateau

A political group, Plateau South Democracy Watch, has called on the people of the state to support the agitation for Southern Senatorial District to produce the next governor of the state.
A statement issued to newsmen yesterday in Jos and signed by the group’s national secretary, Nanya Dombin, said that the agitation by some individuals and interest groups that the rotation of the governorship seat of Plateau State should begin from another senatorial district of the state other than the South is not only in bad faith, but repugnant and unacceptable, because Plateau south would have to wait for 31 years to demand for the seat again”.
The statement added, “That equity and good conscience dictates that Plateau South Senatorial District is next in line to produce the next governor of Plateau state. We shall refuse, reject and repeal forthwith any further act designed to subsume and supine us as a people under any guise whatsoever”.
The statement appealed to political parties in the state to work towards their dreams, saying, “We recognize that the prerogative as to where a candidate for the governorship seat comes from lies with the political parties and, therefore we call on them to beam their search lights on Plateau South Senatorial District for their candidates come 2015”.
