Gov Rochas Okorocha
Okorocha, speaking against the backdrop
of the May 6, 2011 supplementary election through which he was declared
governor of Imo State by the Independent National Electoral Commission
(INEC), told newsmen at Government House Owerri that supplementary
elections have become party
elections in the country. The Governor celebrates May 6 as ‘Freedom Day’ since he assumed office.
The Governor disclosed that as it stands today in the present political situation, he is the only son of Igbo land that has eyed the presidential seat while other are busy chasing shadow and other selfish aims.
Okorocha who refused to disclose about his next political ambition, criticized some Imo sons whom he said, are in the PDP just for their selfish interests and not for the good of the people of the state.
He said that he joined All Progressives Congress (APC) because PDP has no plans for Igbos adding that this is evident in the way and manner the party has relegated Igbos to the background by giving them positions of national women leader and national publicity secretary only.
He said that rather than give the Igbos whom he described as the major key players in the nations democratic process such positions as the party national chairman, senate president, among others, they are left without any tangible positions.
The Governor said the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) is not an Igbo party, saying it only exists at Njikoka in Anambra state, the country home of the chairman.
