Can Sokoto PDP weather the storm?





The growing division in Sokoto PDP appears to be its chances of reclaiming the position it lost to the rival APC. Our correspondent reveals why.

Former governor of Adamawa State,  Murtala Nyako, who was impeached on Tuesday, seemed to have trudged on all alone while his travail lasted. What happened?
Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of Kano was among the first to move to Yola in May, when the plot to impeach the then governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako was thickening.
It had to take the intervention of what Adamawa politicians refer to as an ‘outsider’ for the state legislators to sheathe their swords albeit temporarily.

Tribunal begins sitting, strikes out APC’s application

The Ekiti Election Petition Tribunal yesterday began sitting amidst tight security to commence hearing on the suit filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) against the conduct of the June 21 governorship election in the State.

Nasir El-rufai and others to seek Kaduna APC ticket




Indications have emerged that seven persons are set to contest the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State.
POLITICS 9JA gathered that former deputy governor of Kaduna State, James Bawa Magaji, Former FCT Minister, Nasir El-rufai, Rep. Ashiru Kudan, Group Capt. Bala Zaza Gora, Sani Shaában, Rep. Samsudeen Ango Abdullahi and Sen. Dati- Baba-Ahmed are at the forefront of the race to clinch the APC ticket.
Party stakeholders however say the inability of the party to harmonize the interest of the aspirants who are all influential in the party ahead of the primaries may spell doom for the APC in Kaduna.
Though some of the aspirants have been operating underground, it was gathered that almost all of them are serious about getting the ticket as the APC is believed to stand a good chance of winning Kaduna in 2015.

Nyako: APC North East caucus asks Jonathan to call PDP to order

The North East caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the current attempt to impeach Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State as a forceful means of paving way for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to take over the state.
Addressing newsmen after a meeting of the caucus in Abuja yesterday, national vice chairman, North East of the APC, Eng.Bisichi David Lawal, called on President Goodluck Jonathan to call his party men to order in order not to throw the state into chaos.
