National unrest: Razak urges FG to create State Police to fight Boko Haram

A former governorship candidate in Lagos State, Lanre Razak, has advised the federal government to create state police in order to end the reign of terrorism in Nigeria.
The chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, said the best way to end the endless killings in the northern region is the creation of state police.
Razak told Daily Independent that the recent statement credited to the ruling People’s Democratic Party, PDP, who accused the APC of sponsoring Boko Haram was bad politicking.

“I will like the Federal Government to look at the issue of state police. If we have state police, it will be more effective in monitoring the activities of the Boko Haram insurgents. These Boko Haram people are not angels.
“They are human beings who live in one community like every normal humans. If we have state or local police, it will be easy to identify these people and flush them out.
“The argument that the Governors will abuse the state police is unreasonable because even the federal government is using the federal police to carry out its desires.
“We are all living witnesses to what happened in Rivers State between the state governor and the then police commissioner. It was very clear that somebody was using the commissioner against the state Governor,” he said
