President of the Northern Women Peace
Forum, Hajiya Binta Kuraye, has cautioned Governor Murtala Nyako of
Adamawa state over his recent comments on the security challenges in the
country saying the governor must not overheat the polity.
Kuraye who spoke with newsmen in Abuja
said it is not for Nyako to blame the President while exonerating
himself from the security issues in the North, as she said it is the
primary responsibility
of the governors of the affected states to
provide security for the people and that the much the Federal Government
can do is to build up on what the governors may have achieved.“But for Nyako to talk as if all things lie with the President and that he does not share part of the blame is not only unfair but laughable,” she said.
She said it is highly incisive for the governor to insinuate that The President is condoning the violence in the North in terms of security, saying the President Jonathan she knows is extremely too humane to condone violence and bloodshed.
“People should be careful of what they say because it does end here, we have been advised to keep quite when we don’t have anything to say that will uplift mankind instead of opening our mouths to add to the problem.
“What Nyako has done is to seek to add to the problem instead of finding ways to solve the problem and that is unbecoming of a leader,” she said.
She advised the northern leaders to join hands with president Jonathan to ensure peace and security returns to the country.
