Wike urges support for Jonathan

Supervising minister of education, Nyesom Wike, has called on the people of Rivers State and  members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state to come  together and work  for the victory of President Goodluck Jonathan for a second term in 2015.

Wike who spoke when he visited ex-militant leader  Soboma Jackrick at his  Degema residence,  urged party members who were protesting over the perceived hijacking of the party structures by the Grassroots Development Initiative (GDI) to sheath their swords and work  together to ensure

that the President is successfully returned for a second term in 2015.
Wike said: “I urge all of us to unite and work together for the victory of our party in the general election in 2015. A house divided against itself will not stand. Our priority should be how we can collectively ensure the re-election of President Jonathan in 2015.
“I don’t think we should concern ourselves for now on who succeeds Governor Amaechi in 2015. Let us come together and work for the good of our party rather than allow side talks by our political opponents to set us against each other.”
Wike described  Governor Rotimi Amaechi as an insensitive  and drowning politician who did not mean well for the people of the Rivers State.
 Jackrich, who is the founder of the Kengema Unity Forum, KUF, and the Director-General of the Network for the Defence of Democracy and Good Governance (NDDGG) told  the minister that the GDI,  in Asari-Toru Local Government Area was running what appeared to be a parallel PDP.
