Ahead of the 2016 gubernatorial election
in Bayelsa State, two Niger Delta groups have asked the petroleum
minister, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke to join the governorship race in
the state.
The groups, Niger Delta Believers’ Group
(NDBG) and the Niger Delta Peacekeeping Volunteer Front (NDPVF), on
Sunday said the minister who hails from Yenagoa is qualified to govern
the state.
Speaking in Yenagoa, leaders of the groups, Mr. Lokiri Lawrence, of NDPV,
and Mr. Engema Jumbo, of NDBG condemned allegations
of corruption especially the N10bn jet scandal against the minister,
describing it as the handiwork of enemies of Niger Delta.Speaking in Yenagoa, leaders of the groups, Mr. Lokiri Lawrence, of NDPV,
Jombo said they would not fold their hands and allow some Nigerians to run down the sons and daughters of the region, stressing that the accusers of the minister were on a mission to pull her down by attempting to discredit all her achievements.
On his part, Lawrence, of NDPV said Mrs. Alison-Madueke, would reposition Bayelsa with her wealth of experience.
