Group urges Kebbi AG to go into politics

A group, Kebbi 2015 Initiative, has urged the Kebbi State Accountant General, Alhaji Muhammadu Arzika, to go into politics saying he should use the House of Representatives as a starting point.
The group in a statement by its coordinator, Nasir Usman, said Arzika, also known as Dan Attoh who is due to retire from the civil service, has what it takes to represent
his constituency at the National Assembly.
“At the last count, a total of 16 youths and farmers groups as well as many well meaning individuals have expressed in letters and representations, their preferences for the Dan Atto candidature with a pledge to work for its success at the polls.
“Most of us are farmers and none of us has ever done any politics, but we have realised that politics is a serious business that cannot be left in the hands of political jobbers anymore. Dan Atto is one man that has shown a high level of personal interest in our affairs by way of empowering many farmers to increase their farm yields and if we can push him forward as our representative in Abuja, we can safely assume that things will be okay with us.’’
The group said currently there is no dissenting voice at the Suru/Bagudo federal constituency on his choice.
“Dan Atto is arguably Kebbi’s most capped accountant general who assumed the office in 2011 after he had literally risen through the ranks since the days of the old Sokoto State,” the group stated.
