INEC to begin issuing permanent voters card in Benue

The Independent National  Electoral Commission (INEC) has indicated its readiness to commence issuance of permanent voters cards (PVC) in Benue and nine other states.

State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Alhaji Baba Abba Yusuf, told journalists in Makurdi yesterday that the exercise would hold on May 23 to pave way for the continuous voters registration (CVR)

to begin on May 28 in Benue.
He enumerated those eligible to register in the 2014 CVR to include those who were not up 18 years as at 2011 and have attained the age now, those who had problems with the direct data capture (DDC) machines and were not captured during the 2011 registration exercise as well as those who could not register in 2011 for one reason or the other.
The REC further urged voters to ensure that their names are captured in the register of voters during the exercise to enable them vote and know where to cast their votes on the day of election.
He maintained: “If a voter wants to verify whether his or her names are in the voters register during the period of the CVR, all he or she needs to do is to check from the registration center or ward nearest to where he or she registered in 2011.”
