NDC calls senate to approve the extension of emergency rule

National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on the Senate to approve the extension of emergency rule in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa States in line with the House of Representatives stressing that the extension would save lives.
In a press statement issued to newsmen yesterday in Abuja by its national coordinator, Prince Humphrey Benson Ogbuehi, the group explained that extension of emergency rule in the three states would enable security agents and foreign nations assisting Nigeria to rescue the over 200 abducted girls.

The group which has declared May 27 to 29 as fasting and prayer days for the release of the abducted schoolgirls also advocated federal scholarship to the students after their release and urged security agents in collaboration with Interpol to track down the insurgents and bring them to book.
It urged INEC to sit up and prepare adequately for the for the 2015 general election stressing that Nigerians would not tolerate any excuse from the electoral body for its failure to conduct free, fair, credible and acceptable elections.
“The permanent voters cards should be ready and distributed months before the general election. Voter register should be updated to avoid the distortions observed in the November 16, 2014 Anambra State governorship election,” it said.
