Plateau APC: Kwande’s men defeat Shagaya’s

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State, yesterday, announced Mr. Letep Dabang and Bashir Musan Sati as the state chairman and secretary of the party respectively.
APC in Plateau State has suffered internal crisis which resulted in a battle for the control of the party’s structure between the Kwande camp, spearheaded by a Member of the House  Representatives representing Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency, Suleiman Kwande and the General John Shagaya camp.
The APC state congress which commenced Wednesday morning, lasted  yesterday
afternoon when Mr Sam Maagbe, the congress committee chairman, announced Dabang, from the Kwande camp, as winner.
Dabang scored 790 votes to defeat Amos Goyol Gombi, the presumed candidate of the interim chairman, who scored 369 votes. Other candidates who contested the chairmanship position included Dr. Danladi Wambul who scored 26 votes, Ibrahim Dashi scored 13 votes, Godfrey Yillen, 9 votes, while Alhaji Mubashiru Aliyu withdrew his candidature shortly before accreditation of delegates.
Bashir Musan Sati who emerged secretary of the party defeated former Minister of State for Information and the state interim secretary, Alhaji Ibrahim Dasuki Nakande with 903 votes against 244.
Feenmac Pomac was announced deputy chairman and Joshua Madaki as legal adviser.
Daily Trust gathered that most of the party positions were clinched by the members of Kwande camp and members of the ‘APC for All in Plateau” who, in May, submitted a petition at the party headquarters against Shagaya’s style of leadership, calling for the dissolution of the state executives.
However, shortly before the announcement of yesterday’s results, Gen. Shagaya said there is a petition against the newly elected chairman whom he accused of serving as the special assistant to a sitting Senator under the Labour Party.
But Maagbe, the congress committee chairman, said he was not saddled with the responsibility of looking into petitions, urging aggrieved party members to forward their petitions to the national body.
