TWO chieftains of the Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP), a former Minister of Power and Steel, Elder Wole Oyelese
and a former Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Honourable Asimiyu
Alarape, have distanced themselves from “approved harmonisation list”
for Oyo PDP.
The party had been factionalised along the camps of those who want
the current
structure of the party dissolved to pave way for an
all-inclusive executive list and those who oppose such move.
In a joint statement made available to the Nigerian Tribune on
Wednesday, the party leaders said the list being bandied by Alhaji
Yekeen Adeojo and others were not product of team work and were capable
of deepening the crisis rocking the party.
They
stressed that a reconciliation committee of six members, of which they
were part and set up to iron out issues causing disharmony in the party
was frustrated by those bent on holding onto to the party structure as
presently constituted for selfish motive.
