"No war between Bafarawa and Shagari"

Media consultant to former governor Attahiru Bafarawa, Yusuf Dingyadi yesterday said there was no feud between the former governor and the incumbent deputy governor of Sokoto State, Barrister Mukhtari Shagari as being speculated.

He also said the former governor has no anointed candidate among the aspirants vying for the party’s ticket ahead of the 2015 elections in the state.
Dingyadi was reacting to the observation by some political analysts in the state whom he said had misunderstood the content of Bafarawa’s remarks at the inauguration of the PDP students forum penultimate week.
At the inuaguration ceremony which was attended by all the aspirants of the party except the deputy governor, Bafarawa had said:”Whoever will emerge as governorship candidate of the party in 2015 is here” which was translated to mean easing out Shagari.
Speaking to Daily Trust, Dingyadi said the statement was either misunderstood or deliberately misinterpreted giving it a different meaning aimed at creating division in the party.
According to him, though Shagari was not at the occasion on health grounds he was adequately represented. Dingyadi maintained that Bafarawa held the deputy governor in high esteem being the leader of the party in the state.
“There was never a rift between the two, Bafarawa recognizes Shagari as leader of the party and gives him all the respect a leader deserves from his members. He is only after how to make the party a formidable one ahead of the 2015 elections,” he said.
