The formal declaration by General Muhammadu Buhari for his 2015 presidential ambition on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will now hold on October 15, a statement from the general’s office said.
Buhari’s formal presidential declaration was initially slated for October 8, but a statement from his office yesterday said that the formal declaration will now hold on Wednesday, October 15 at the Eagles Square, Abuja.
The statement, signed by Buhari’s coordinator Dr. Audu Ogbeh, added that all earlier arrangements remain the same.
A close ally of the former Head of State told our reporter that the postponement was to allow for the successful conduct of the party’s rally for its governorship candidate in Adamawa ahead of the October 11 by-election.
The source added that the postponement was also necessitated by the Sallah celebrations and the public holidays which were observed on Monday and Tuesday.
The declaration is coming after former Vice President Atiku Abubakar who is also vying for the presidential ticket of the APC declared his intention on September 24. Atiku had last week welcomed Buhari’s presidential declaration plans, which he said would strengthen the APC.
