Senior Special Assistant to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal on print media, Malam Mohammed Isa Funtua, has picked the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination form to contest for the Katsina State House of Assembly.
Isa said his decision to vie for the Funtua Local Government state assembly seat was informed by his desire to provide quality leadership to attract development to the area.
Addressing journalists shortly after picking the nomination form in Katsina, Isa said he was ready to serve the people and ensure justice and fairness for the constituency, which he alleged has been marginalised by the present administration in the state.
He lamented how Funtua has been neglected in terms of provision of infrastructure and other social amenities in the last seven years, saying certain local governments that are smaller in size and importance in the state have been transformed leaving Funtua behind.
While challenging the state government to disclose the developmental projects it executed in each local government of the state in the last seven and half years, Isa said “if they can respond to this challenge everyone will see the glaring imbalances and how my area has been consistently marginalised with every of the little infrastructure established long ago deteriorating without any attempt by the state government to address the issue.
“It is such a pitiable situation that as important as Funtua is to the state, it is only one quarter of the town that enjoys epileptic water supply; it lacks township roads except those constructed by the defunct Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF).
“Even in siting higher educational institutions, Funtua, in particular and Katsina South in general have not been found suitable enough to host any, instead such institutions are concentrated in two local governments within a radius of 80 kilometres,” he said.
