‘APC will lose Nasarawa if it fields Al-Makura in 2015’

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nurudeen Omar, has said the party would lose in the governorship election in Nasarawa State if it allows the incumbent governor, Alhaji Tanko Umaru Al-Makura to contest as its candidate.
Omar who spoke to newsmen in Jos said: “Al-Makura is killing the party in the state. The APC is growing stronger at the centre but getting weaker in Nasarawa State
where everybody is leaving it for Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) because of his nonchalant attitude.”
Omar added that Al-Makura had shown the world that he is not a progressive politician explaining that a progressive is one who is able to do justice to all and carry everyone along. He alleged that the governors “has hijacked the party and annexed it to his household. He is doing everything in his own way, dictating what happens, forgetting that Nasarawa State belongs to people from diverse backgrounds.”
“I’ve petitioned severally to the national headquarters. I’ve even gone to the extent of suing the party and suing the governor, Al-Makura, for not following the template, the constitution and the guidelines of the party, and I have a court order now that stops members of the interim committee from parading themselves as the management of the party in the state,” he said.
Omar, a House of Representatives candidate for Lafia\Obi Federal Constituency on the platform of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in 2011, said  besides issues with party management, Al-Makura has done little to develop the state.
