A People’s Democratic Party (PDP)
governorship aspirant in Adamawa State, Mohammed Sabo Jimeta, has warned
aspirants against using the name President Goodluck Jonathan and that
of the national chairman of PDP to intimidate opponents ahead of
party’s primary election.
Speaking to newsmen in Yola, Sabo said
some of the PDP aspirants are mischievously deceiving party members by
claiming to have the backing of Jonathan and PDP national chairman,
Adamu Muazu, saying the attitude is unacceptable.
“If they want to swindle our people as has been their practice in the past, we know how to handle them now. We have it on good authority that neither the president nor the national chairman of the PDP have a chosen candidate amongst our 14 aspirants that have indicated interest in the governorship seat”. He said.
He frowned at what he described as attempt by some aspirants to buy up delegates, saying “ Some money bags seeking election surfaced at the state secretariat of the PDP on Saturday, August 23,2014 ,with some donating over 40 cars and N30 million” he said
He warned that unhealthy use of money would encourage corruption in the party and ultimately lead to emergence of wrong candidates who are in the party for monetary gains.
