We are not competing for leadership of Kano PDP says Shekarau, Wali

Former of Kano State, governor  Ibrahim Shekarau and the minister of foreign affairs, Ambassador Aminu Wali, are not competing for the control of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) structure in the state, immediate past spokesperson of the party, Alhaji Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso, has said.

Our correspondent reports that the camp of Shekarau on Saturday defeated that of Wali in the last congress of the party. Alhaji Rabiu Dansharu, who is the candidate backed by the former governor’s camp, defeated Senator Masud Jibril, the preferred candidate of Ambassador Wali.
The development, our correspondent gathered ignited mild rivalry between the two camps with that of Wali feeling short-changed.
But Kwankwaso in reaction to the development, faulted reports which reported the rivalry between the two camps, saying there was no crack in the party and that the relationship between Shekarau and Wali is cordial.
“All those who are trying to create divisions in our party would not succeed because our leaders are together working for the reclaiming of the party’s stolen mandate come 2015,” he said.
Kwankwaso, who was commissioner for Rural and Community Development during Shekarau’s regime in Kano, said Wali remains the leader of PDP in Kano and that nobody is contesting it with him.
“To show that we are all together in Kano PDP, Senator Masud has since paid a congratulatory visit to Alhaji Dansharu. In fact, Senator Masud also gave him advice on our best to pilot the affairs of the party to greater height,” he said.
