Disqualify Letep Dabang says Shagaya

  

Former interim chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State, General John Shagaya, has asked the interim national chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande to disqualify the newly elected state chairman of the party, Letep Dabang saying he is not qualified to contest as state chairman of the party.

Shagaya in a letter addressed to the APC interim national chairman, ahead of the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party, alleged that Dabang alongside Jock Alamba, the party’s national ex officio had been indicted by a committee of the party.

The tension, accusations and counter-accusations going on in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State reached its climax with the defeat in the state congress of the candidates favoured by the interim leadership of the party, headed by General John Shagaya.
Of course, the defeat came as no surprise to many political actors and members of the APC who have constantly accused Shagaya of mismanaging the party. Many, however, believed that the interim chairman, despite the problems created by his style of leadership, would be able to ensure that things went his way.
Analysts say his stern approach to issues as an ex-military officer cost him the control of the party structure.

Wife of Ekiti State governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, yesterday declared that the consistent campaign by her husband is because he does not want to leave any voter behind and not that  he is jittery over the coming elections.

She said her husband’s achievements would pave the way for him to defeat other candidates in the June 21 governorship election in the state.

Mu’azu been called to intervene in Cross River PDP crisis

                                                Friends and political associates of a governorship aspirant in Cross River State, Prince Goddy Jedy Agba, have sent a petition to the national chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its National Working Committee, saying their principal is being persecuted and denied freedom to aspire for state governorship by the state leadership of the party.

The statement was signed by six said members of the party including former commissioner for environment, Dr. Sandy Onor; former PDP national publicity secretary, Venatius Ikem; former special adviser and vice chairman of State Planning Commission, John Omori; former member of Cross River House of Assembly, Bassey Ibor; former member of House of Representatives, Ernest Irek; and former executive secretary in the state, Pius Achu, the elders insisted that Jedy- Agba is a member of the party.

Oshiomole has not announced his successor - APC

                                                               An aide to Gov. Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, Mr John Akhigbe, said on Sunday that the governor had not picked a successor to take over from him in 2016.

Akhigbe, a Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Protocol, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Benin.
He was reacting to speculations that the crisis rocking the party was as a result of the governor’s overbearing influence in the running of the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC)
But Akhigbe said the governor was a democrat who believes that the choice of the next governor should be made by the people.

IBB gives advise Politicians To Be Careful And Responsible In Conduct during campaign

 

As Nigerians prepare to go to the polls in 2015 to elect leaders in the forthcoming general elections, former military head of state, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida yesterday warned politicians to desist from engaging in acts capable of setting the country on the path of anarchy.

The former military president, who gave the warning in Kaduna while speaking at the presentation ceremony of two books written by the Director-General of the National Teachers Institute (NTI), Kaduna, Dr Aminu Ladan Sharehu, said politicians must not heat up the polity in their bid to gain acceptance.
He added that “politics is a game that produces a winner and not all contestants will emerge victorious at the polls; therefore, losers must learn to accept defeat with grace and prepare for another race someday”.
